But his mission isn't only to rain down retribution on the people who kept him chained for years, he's also looking for a human woman his fellow Class 5 thinking system mentioned in the final seconds of his life. He revels in the power he's about to have over his old masters. The powerful AI battleship, Bane, is accompanying the United Council envoy to Tecra to mete out the punishment the Tecrans have earned for breaking UC law. When your very existence puts a planet at the risk of war, there's no choice but to do everything in your power to stay out of your enemies' hands.Ī predator.waiting for the chance to pounce But even as her abductors chase her down, she realizes they don't just want to recapture her, they want to erase her. I liked that we saw him grow and develop a sense of self.ĭark Horse wasn’t a bad book per se, it’s just it can feel quite underwhelming and while the characters aren’t bad, they weren’t particularly interesting either.Lucy Harris is on the run, not sure where she can turn to for help, or if help is even available. Sazo was probably my favourite character in the book though. He was genuinely protective of her without being overbearing.

He was even understanding as to why she kept things from him. He was calm and reasonable when she finally told him everything. And yet, he never pressured her to tell him. He was drawn to Rose from the beginning but also knew that she was keeping things from him. She was also inventive and proactive and didn’t sit around waiting for stuff to happen.ĭav Jallan wasn’t bad either. There were things about her that were done well, for instance, I liked that she was cautious even with her rescuers. It was jarring because as far as introductions though, it’s a bumpy method. It was okay, but it didn’t even come close to blowing me away.įor one, the beginning was very abrupt, so much so that I checked whether it was indeed the first page of the first chapter and once that was done, then I checked to make sure that I was reading the first book (should have probably done that first though) So yes, the beginning was strange, it picked up right in the middle of an escape.

I’ve enjoyed the historical fiction novels by Michelle Diener and decided to give this a go. Aurora Burning (Aurora Cycle #02) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff Review.
